AutoLISP is a programming language designed specifically for use with the full version of AutoCAD (i.e. It does not work with AutoCAD LT). AutoLISP is one of a number of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) built into AutoCAD but it is probably the easiest to use and therefore the most productive for the beginner. AutoLISP is an interpretive language, so it can be stored in an ASCII text file, loaded, and then executed directly within AutoCAD. AutoLISP files typically have an.

Hi, Having recently started a business I have purchased the subscription licence for AutoCAD 2017 LT which suits my 2D work fine. Having previously come from business which used AutoCAD full we had many specific 'lisp' routines which worked very well and I would like to utilise some of these again however I understand that the LT version will not support 'lisp'. Do AutoDesk do an add-on for this or can anyone recommend a free 3rd party programme that could run these, i.e drop out of LT to run the lisp externally, save and open and resume in LT? Maybe a big ask but I cannot justify the huge increase in price of the AutoCAD full from LT just to run a couple of routines.

Appreciate any direction.I thought not! After posting the 'lisp' question I did notice your advise to others in regards to creating command strings instead.

As an example, one 'lisp' routine that I used to use on a regular basis was to 'Copyto All Laytouts'. This really does speed up things when multiple drawings have been issued for 'Approval', all come back as accepted andthey can be issued for 'Construction'.

You would create a revision block, with revision number, date etc and the 'lisp' routine allowed this to be copied from the 1st drawing and automatically placed into all the associated drawing layouts in one go rather than copy, open up each layout and paste.very time consuming on large projects. Maybe this can be achieved through a command string? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply and thoughts. XREF would work across the board but there are many occasions where the client may change and revise matters post Construction issue which would then require a limited number of drawings to be revised. The XREF would have to be exploded on each of the revisions to correctly note what exactly has revised to that specific dwg.

The 'lisp' routine i refered to before, whilst it is essencially a Copy/Past would copy the source and past to all layouts, worked really well as a straight revision issue but then had the flexibility to edit the copied text on any layout should a single further revison be required as per above. Maybe i'm asking too much from LT!
